Is Facebook Waste of Time for Most Advertisers?

Commercial Intent almost never exists on Social Media.”
What a crock. Every day my Facebook and Twitter feeds are full of discussions about music, fashion, electronics, travel and other highly valuable verticals. The fact these conversations aren’t directly attributable to sales conversion aren’t fundamental statements about social traffic, but rather continued product gaps in the underlying platforms. They haven’t designed great commerce experiences across the (a) identification of relevant discussions, (b) presentation of features to convert commercial intent and (c) ad products to present in context.

Inbound Social Marketing

Rather than doing outbound marketing to the masses of people who are trying to block you out, I advocate doing "inbound marketing" where you help yourself "get found" by people already learning about and shopping in your industry.

Social Media & Content Marketing Predictions 2012
View more presentations from Source Content Marketing Institute

Of all the 2012 predictions, here are some of the major themes that seemed to rise to the top:
  1. Google+ will become a force in 2012. It seems many of our prognosticators think that the best is yet to come for Google’s social networking site.
  2. Video and mobile will finally both take center stage. This prediction has been made for years, but maybe this IS the year.
  3. Jobs in content marketing will be robust.
  4. Original, long-form content, due in large part to the iPad and eBooks, will make a comeback.
  5. Brands and agencies alike will start to realize that content marketing is like advertising, only better… and will take serious steps toward integrating content processes into the organization.

Poken: Extending Online Social Networking Into the Real World

Website: http://www.doyoupoken.com

Picture yourself on a university campus, or in a bar. You come across some friends, and meet some new people with whom you would like stay in touch. Instead of jotting down each person's email address, you simply pull your Poken out of your pocket and touch it against the other person's Poken. Next time you log in to your favorite social network, your profiles are linked and you can access enhanced functionality and services such as viewing your social interactions in a timeline.

Poken is building a service as yet unseen on the Internet, that fits right in with the move towards more open, easily accessible social networks. Combining a low-cost designer keychain accessory, containing our patented RF communication technology, and an open web-based API, we provide the tools that enable any social network to extend their reach into the real world.

Speaker: Stephane Doutriaux
In 1999 Stephane launched a Montreal-based internet start-up developing algorithms for on-demand delivery of high-fidelity audio over digital cable networks. Following this early career experience he held various positions in the high-tech industry in Canada, France and Spain. He recently completed an MBA at Switzerlands Institute for Management Development (IMD). In 2007, Stephane grew a virtual cosmetics company and sold it to the board of LOreal, as part of the e-Strat International Business Strategy Competition.

Ethics -CEO's

After watching Satyam Computers saga, we all have a different questions in mind....
whether we judge of un-judge the situation this video raised important ethical question for all CEOs.
This video was selected as the winner of the World Economic Forum and YouTube's "Davos Debates" program, at youtube.com/davos - see more videos and submit your own, and keep an eye this week as the leaders at Davos respond to your videos.

t is a good video, but it is not realistic enough. An international code of ethics is too idealistic. Some cultures think it is ethical to bribe, extortion, etc. Perhaps, it is time to restructure who the stakeholders of a company are; involve the community in business decisions. Look at the European model. It is about time Wall Street investors stop idolizing certain stocks -- look what happened with Enron.
